Northwest Bergen Regional Health Commission
Fair Lawn has contracted with Northwest Bergen Regional Health Commission (“NWBRHC”) based in Waldwick, New Jersey to offer Borough residents and businesses continued Health services. Fair Lawn has previously contracted with NWBRHC for food establishment inspections, food handling and other services. The Borough is expanding their services with NWBRHC and there will be no lapse in services provided.
The Borough of Fair Lawn still has a Human Services Department consisting of the food pantry, mini bus services, dog, cat and fowl licensing, marriage licensing and vital records.
Animals:
Dog, cat and fowl licensing will still be conducted through the Borough. For licensing of these animals, you can contact 201-794-5327.
Chicken coop inspections will be conducted by NWBRHC.
Animal bites will be investigated by Northwest Bergen Regional Health Commission. Any calls received regarding bites will be referred to NWBRHC.
Rat control measures will be monitored by NWBRHC. Letters regarding rat control will be issued by NWBRHC to neighborhoods where there is a potential infestation.
Health Education:
NWBRHC offers various health education courses. Many of the classes are virtual, which will make it easier for residents to attend. Please visit their website for classes, dates and times.
Food Establishments:
All food establishment annual inspections, temporary event food inspections, mobile vendor inspections will be conducted by NWBRHC.
Food Handler and Food Manager Certification classes will be offered by NWBRHC.
The Borough of Fair Lawn will collect the fees associated with these licenses.
Recreational Bathing Facilities:
Recreational bathing facility inspections and water quality monitoring will be conducted by NWBRHC.

NWBRHC will handle the following through its Nursing Services for the Borough:
- Communicable Disease Control and Reporting
- Childhood Lead Case Management
- Immunizations Audits of Daycares, Preschools and K-12 schools
- School Nurse Resources
- Child Health Conference Clinics
- Vaccines for Children Program
- Adult Immunization Clinics
- Blood Pressure and Health Screening Clinics
- Long Term Care Facility Complaints
