Demolition at the Nabisco site is expected to resume shortly, with state approval.  A non-explosive demolition will be undertaken.

May 8, 2023 - Update of Demolition

After extensive dialogue with local communities and businesses, Greek Development has made the decision not to implode the remaining portion of the Nabisco Tower. They will utilize an alternative method of demolition that does not include the use of any explosives. Ownership is proceeding to undertake the additional time and expense to ensure the well-being and peace of mind of the surrounding residents. 

 

May 5, 2023 - Update on Demolition

Please be advised that the implosion of the former Nabisco property scheduled for Saturday, April 15 has been postponed.  A new date and time has not be scheduled. Once a new date and time has been scheduled, a designated area will be established for the media ONLY and will be coordinated and monitored by the Fair Lawn Police Department. The exact location will be provided once it has been designated.  Media personnel will need to provide proper credentials to be permitted in the media area on the day of the implosion.   There will be no viewing area for the general public. Road closures, parking lot closures and detours will be in place.  Please avoid and refrain from being in the area surrounding the former Nabisco property on the day of the implosion.  The demolition contractor and developer have set-up a designated phone number to call with questions, comments or other concerns at 315-651-5082.   DO NOT CALL THE FAIR LAWN POLICE DEPARTMENT OR FAIR LAWN BUILDING DEPARTMENT FOR INFORMATION.  

 

March 28, 2023 - Update

The Manager’s Office has set-up a recorded message regarding information on the implosion of the former Nabisco building.  The telephone number is 201-794-5366.  Below is the message on the telephone line:  

 

The implosion is scheduled for Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 8:00 a.m. If weather conditions are not met at 8:00 a.m., the implosion will commence soon thereafter as safety and security permits.  

 

A designated area will be established for the media ONLY and will be coordinated and monitored by the Fair Lawn Police Department. The exact location will be provided once it has been designated.  Media personnel will need to provide proper Identification to be permitted in the media area on the day of the implosion.

 

There will be no viewing area for the general public.  Repeat, there will be no viewing area for the general public.  Road closures, parking lot closures and detours will be in place.  Please avoid and refrain from being in the area surrounding the former Nabisco property on the day of the implosion. The Borough cannot stress enough and ask that you watch the implosion on television in the comfort of your home.
