Thomas Metzler served as Director and Coordinator of Fair Lawn Emergency Management from 1990 until 2005. He served as Director of Fair Lawn Emergency Services from 2002 to 2005.
He is a Certified Emergency Manager by the International Association of Emergency Managers since 1995 and has achieved Lifetime CEM status. Mr. Metzler is a former executive board member of the International Association of Emergency Managers representing FEMA Region II. He is a former member of the Certified Emergency Manager Certification Commission. He is a former Chairman of the Emergency Management Mutual Aid Committee.
He served as Bergen County Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator from 2013 until his retirement in 2018. He was a member of the Fair Lawn Fire Department for 20 years serving as Chief of the Department in 1986. He is a life member of Fair Lawn Firefighter’s Exempt Association.
Mr. Metzler served as a FEMA Disaster Assistance Specialist. He served on the executive committee of the Bergen County Anti-Terrorism Task Force.
