Frank Van Ness served as Chief of the Rescue Squad from 1967 until 1981. Chief Van Ness also served as a Firefighter for Company 1 prior to becoming Rescue Chief.
Chief Van Ness played a significant role in leading the Squad through many years until 1981 when he retired from active membership. Although retired from active membership, Chief Van Ness still served as Treasurer of the organization for over a decade.
He was instrumental in making sure the Squad secured the funding to build a new Rescue building. Chief Van Ness mentored many of the young members in his time, many of which are still serving today. Chief Van Ness often went by “Pops” Van Ness.
