Warning - Scammers have been impersonating Board Professionals

Applications submitted to the Planning Board and Zoning Board require both application fees and escrow deposits.

Application fees are paid to the Borough to cover the administrative costs associated with processing applications.

Escrow deposits are used to compensate the Board’s professionals (such as engineers, planners, and attorneys) for their review and services related to an application.

All fees and escrow payments are made directly to the Borough, not to the Board’s professionals. The Borough holds the escrow funds and pays the professionals after they submit invoices to the Borough.

Please be advised that scammers have been impersonating Board professionals and sending fraudulent invoices to applicants requesting payment by wire transfer or mail.

If you receive such a request, do not make any payment.

Instead, contact the Board Secretary using the phone number listed on the Borough’s official website to confirm whether any escrow payment is due. If payment is required, it should be made by check payable to the Borough of Fair Lawn.
