The Corps provides the following services to the Borough of Fair Lawn:
The members of the Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corps receive no pay for their service to the community. These dedicated volunteers come from all walks of life: white collar, blue collar, stay-at-home parents, students and retired persons. Our ages range from 16 to those in their 70s. Not a Fair Lawn resident? Not a problem. You just need to be in Fair Lawn during your shift.

Public Training Classes
Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corps trainers hold classes for the public periodically throughout the year. The Corps charges a nominal fee to cover class materials and completion cards. All classes are held at Corps Headquarters:
Heartsaver Adult/Child/Infant CPR & Defibrillation
The sooner that CPR is started and an AED (defibrillator) is applied to a patient in cardiac arrest, the greater their chances for survival! You are more likely to do CPR on someone that you know than on a stranger.
The skills learned in this course will help you recognize cardiac arrest, get emergency care on the way quickly and help a person until EMS arrives. The cost of the class is $35.00 per person to cover the Corps costs.

First Aid Classes
This course covers first aid basics for the most common first aid emergencies, including how to recognize them, how to call for help, and how to perform lifesaving skills.
Health Care Provider CPR (Adult /Child / Infant)
Professional rescuer, also known as HCP or Health Care Provider CPR, classes are available upon request at a cost per student that will be determined by the size of the class, date and time. Basic Life Support training reinforces healthcare professionals' understanding of the importance of early CPR and defibrillation, basic steps of performing CPR, relieving choking, and using an AED; and the role of each link in the Chain of Survival.

What Is This Service?
The Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corps provides non-emergency transportation services for the residents of Fair Lawn. This service is intended for residents who are non-ambulatory or require oxygen therapy and need assistance to or from a local hospital. Residents who require assistance from their car into their home and are non-ambulatory can call to have the ambulance crew meet you at your home for assistance into your home after discharge from the hospital.
Who Is Eligible?
Fair Lawn residents or their guests as agreed upon on a case-by-case basis.
Use Of This Service
Arrangements for transportations are made daily and will be scheduled for 7:00 PM. If a 9-1-1 emergency occurs at the time of transportation, the emergency call will take precedence and will be handled first. The transportation will be delayed until after the emergency.
How To Schedule Transportation
Call our transportation hotline (201) 797-5321 by 5:00 PM the day of the transportation, or preferably prior to the date requested. Your message should include the following:
Please note that we do NOT provide advanced life support during transportations and cannot transport patients who are required to be on a ventilator, have IV's running or require other advanced medical care.
Cost: None, this is a volunteer service for those in need, but donations gladly accepted. Private services cost up to $700.00 for this service.
Special Event Coverage
While you or your family members are at a Fair Lawn event you can rest easy knowing that the Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corps members are there providing EMS for that event. Depending on the event, we might have a first responder vehicle or our ambulances and special operations truck on standby! During that event, if you need us, look out for our volunteer EMTs wearing Corps uniforms, come to one of our orange and white vehicles or our FLVAC EMS tent. We are happy to assist with your medical needs or to chat.
Demonstrations
Does your organization or school want to know more about EMS services in Fair Lawn? Do your children want to see the ambulance and the equipment we carry so they are not as afraid should they need our services? Schedule a demonstration today! We will bring at least one of our ambulances and our members to your Fair Lawn meeting, school or organization.

Cost
There is no cost for our services. We are a volunteer organization that depends on donations from the public. Private services charge $50.00 - $250.00 per hour per ambulance at an event. Please consider this when you are booking us for an event and considering a donation to help us continue to offer these services.

Unfortunately, due to our staff being volunteers we cannot guarantee that all events or demonstrations can be covered.
The Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corps is a 501(c)3 organization that is primarily funded through donations from residents and businesses within the Borough of Fair Lawn. The Borough of Fair Lawn also provides the Corps with some funding and purchases the ambulances through the capital budget process. Over the years, the FLVAC has seen an increase in requests for our services and an increase to the cost of our medical supplies. With your support, the Corps can provide care to the residents and businesses of Fair Lawn and surrounding towns.
Your donations help pay for first aid supplies, training, building upkeep and maintenance, and all the other customary expenses that come with running an organization.
