On Saturday May 3rd at 8:00pm at the Fair Lawn Community Center, the Hurdy
Gurdy Folk Music Club is will feature an evening with singer-songwriters Eve
Goldberg and Thea Hopkins.

Hurdy Gurdy Folk Music Club president Ron Olesko announced that this concert
is being presented as part of the Hurdy Gurdy's mission to present important
new artists in the contemporary folk music scene to audiences in Bergen
County. The club has lowered their ticket prices for this concert as an
incentive to expose new audiences to contemporary folk music.

Canadian singer-songwriter Eve Goldberg sings music that draws honey from
the rock of life. A compelling writer and interpreter, Eve's watercolor
voice and solid guitar style has made her a favorite with audiences across
Canada and the US. Her performances are intimate and relaxed, moving
effortlessly from folk classics to original gems. Since 1990, she has
performed her trademark mixture of folk, blues, country, bluegrass, old
time, and jazz in venues across Canada and the U.S. ranging from small house
concerts to the prestigious Kennedy Center in Washington DC. Along the way
she's earned the respect of legendary musicians like Peggy Seeger, Geoff
Muldaur, and Penny Lang.

Eve has released three CDs to widespread acclaim: "Ever Brightening Day,"
"Crossing the Water," and her latest, "A Kinder Season." Recorded shortly
after her mother's death, Goldberg said the album was created to be a
"personal testament to the joy and hope that lurks somewhere beyond the
heartache, and the sweetness that can be found even in the bitterest seasons
of life."

Boston based singer- songwriter Thea Hopkins calls her music American Short
Story Folk: concise, striking narratives that tell of American romance and
tragedy in modern terms. In 2004, folk icons Peter, Paul & Mary recorded one
of her songs, "Jesus Is On The Wire" on their album "In These Times," and
described the song as a "compelling composition with a riveting
story-telling style. This is one of the most important songs we have sung in
recent years." The story-song pays tribute to Matthew Shepard, the Wyoming
college student who, in 1998, was tortured and murdered because of his
homosexuality

In 2004, Thea's song "Western Town" was included in the CD "The Best of
Boston Songwriters." In 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 Thea received ASCAP Plus
awards for song-writing. Thea was named as a finalist in the 2004 Boston
Folk Festival songwriter contest. There were 350 entries. She won 2nd place
in the contest. She was a semi-finalist in the 2005 International
Songwriting Competition.
