Sunday matinee at 2 pm
Nestled in the Catskills - 1962’s land of dirty dancing and Borscht Belt comedy - an inconspicuous bungalow colony catered to a very special clientele: heterosexual men who delighted in dressing and acting as women.  These white-collar professionals would discreetly escape their families to spend their weekends safely inhabiting their chosen female alter-egos.  But given the opportunity to share their secret lives with the world, the members of this sorority had to decide whether the freedom gained by openness was worth the risk of personal ruin.  For information and ticket sales call 973-OLT-4420 or visit www.oldlibrarytheatre.net.

“Raskolnikov and the Pawnbroker: A Love Story”
presented by TRACT (Theater of Russian Actors)

(presented in Russian with English subtitles)

Friday, September 21, 2018 at 7:30

The modern playwright Edward Reznik imagines how frightened and amused by modern Russia would Fyodor Dostoyevsky be, and how differently his novel Crime and Punishment would look, had it been written today.  Drawing heavily on the works of Dostoyevsky, Chekhov and Pushkin, Mr. Reznik’s new comedy is both a journey through Russia’s literary past, and a biting satire of the mores and attitudes of its present.  For information and ticket sales call 201-835-7708 or visit www.raskolnikov.eventbrite.com.

Sunday matinee at 3 pm

A 19-year-old man has just stood trial for the fatal stabbing of his father.  “He doesn’t stand a chance,” mutters the guard as the 12 jurors are taken into the bleak jury room.  It looks like an open-and-shut case – until one of the jurors begins opening the others’ eyes to the facts.  Twelve Angry Jurors is a heightened courtroom thriller that puts you on the edge of your seat while powerfully exploring what it means to live in a democracy.
